Virginia MOCA's Teaching with Art is a free professional development series aimed at equipping teachers of all disciplines with helpful tools for using contemporary artwork in their curriculum and classrooms. Please join Katherine Custer of Virginia MOCA and Emily Cayton of the Chrysler Museum of Art as we explore Lin's work and reflect on artistic content that can be shared in the classroom setting.
This program will focus on our exhibition Maya Lin: A Study of Water and will take place on Wednesday, May 18 from 5:00–6:30pm at the Museum. RSVP to reserve your spot.
Maya Lin is one of the most renowned visual artists of our time. Beginning her nationally recognized career at age 21 with the creation of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., the architect and artist has been celebrated for her contribution to American sculpture for over five decades. Often responding to particular characteristics of a site or place, Lin makes pieces that are both topical and universally resonant. This exhibition brings together a selection of the internationally acclaimed artist’s sculptural interpretations of water spanning several decades.
