In this course, students will delve into alternative process printing techniques, including cyanotype, Polaroid transfer, and photo print manipulation. Inspired by the artwork on view, each material exploration will encourage students to spend part of class time in the galleries, reflecting on the conceptual implications of each technique before applying it to their own photographic images.

By the end of the course, students will gain a foundational understanding of contemporary trends in alternative process photography and will have created at least three unique photographic pieces: a cyanotype print, a polaroid transfer, and a manipulated photo print which may involve cutting and layering, collaging, painting, or pairing with text.
