ALL ABOUT LOVE: NEW VISIONS OF CARE, COMMUNITY, AND ENVIRONMENT WITH THE YWCA OF SOUTH HAMPTON ROADS

Close out Black History Month with an afternoon of love and the arts! Join the YWCA South Hampton Roads at Virginia MOCA for a community conversation inspired by All About Love: New Visions by Bell Hooks. This program will focus on the transformative power of a love ethic and how it can foster change within us, communities, and the environment. After the panel, stick around for a community open mic and explore our current exhibitions with a guided tour. Also, visit artist Tommy Mitchell in action in the Atrium for a live drawing demonstration. Mitchell is known for skillfully capturing and sharing the dynamic beauty inherent in the Black experience by creating powerful and evocative portraits.
YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women’s organization in the world. Since 1908, the YWCA South Hampton Roads has strengthened social movements that eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. For nearly 40 years, YWCA of South Hampton Roads has run its emergency shelter, providing the only place of refuge for families escaping domestic and sexual violence in the City of Norfolk.
