PLANNING YOUR EVENT
Our nationally accredited Museum has multiple spaces available for your special event. Each rental comes with 200 white resin chairs, a wide variety of tables, and some audio/visual equipment.
To make your event easier we have two catering kitchens and two dressing rooms that can be private or hold multiple members of your wedding party as well as:

We make every effort to be competitive in both our service and our pricing. Three main rooms are available for rent 7 days a week, dependent upon availability. The Atrium, Rodriguez Pavilion, and Price Auditorium provide ample space for entertaining your guests, while additional amenities and park-like grounds create a memorable experience.

Spaces and Floor Plans
ATRIUM The expansive 4,800 square-foot atrium features a vaulted ceiling, skylight, mahogany trim, and live trees. A flexible floor plan can accommodate an intimate event for 35 or an extravagant gala for 350. Seated capacity: 200; Standing Capacity: 350.
RODRIGUEZ PAVILION This beautiful new addition showcases a sparkling 16-foot Dale Chihuly Chandelier, which shines as a beacon for your event or reception. The 1,600 square-foot space is versatile and equipped with a separate outdoor entrance, a coat check area, restrooms, and a catering area. Seated ceremony capacity: 150; Standing Capacity: 200.
PRICE AUDITORIUM Our 268-seat theater-style auditorium is available for seminars, meetings, performances, and visual presentations. The auditorium has a 15-by-30-foot screen, complete stage, lightboard, and sound capability.
Policies & Logistics
RESERVATIONS We are happy to take reservations and hold a date for you! You can hold a date for 14 days free of charge, and then a non-refundable deposit and signed letter of agreement are due to reserve your special day. Your rental fee will be locked into place at this time, and cannot go up if rates change. Additional fees, if any, will be determined at the time of contract depending on any extras you want to add to your event.
CANCELATIONS The world is a crazy place, and we understand that things change and sometimes cancelations are necessary. With a cancelation in writing, we can do partial refunds on canceled events—a portion of the rental fee is non-refundable because of our staff’s hard work and since we were unable to rent the space to anyone else while it was reserved.
• The deposit made at the signing of the letter of agreement is non-refundable. • 6 months prior to event: 50% of 2nd payment. • 4 months prior to event: No further payment required. • 3 months prior to event: User will be responsible for the total contracted amount.
In the rare event that Virginia MOCA has to cancel an event, we reserve the right to do so up to 4 months in advance with a full refund.
CHANGES Please let us know of any changes to the event as soon as you can. We’ll do the same. All changes must be made at least a week in advance.
HOLIDAYS The Museum staff is off on certain holidays, so there is a special holiday rate to book those dates. These include: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, MLK Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. We are a polling place, so there are no rentals on local, state, or national election days and primaries.
LOGISTICS To make sure everything goes smoothly and fits within our guidelines we need to review the logistics of your event. We need to provide approval on:
• Logistical plans • Caterer, rental company, and valet parking service • Proposed construction plans and space configuration • Circulation plan and seating arrangements • Lighting, decor, and entertainment • Set-up and delivery.
We won’t be unreasonable and will allow most things that are not hazardous, dangerous, or otherwise problematic to the safe and proper management of the premises. Any additional rentals you want to do you can be arranged directly with a vendor including delivery and pickup. Often tents are allowed after we take a look at the size and specifics.
SECURITY Our security guards are great and will be on site for your whole event, including setup and breakdown. Rates vary based on needs, size of event, and date.
MAINTENANCE Clean up and trash removal is done by you or your vendors. If you need additional help, let us know and we will arrange for a cleaning service and make it part of the contract—no need to hire your own.
CATERING We won’t tell you who to pick, but we do have some great recommendations. All we ask is that they are an official, licensed business having liability and workmen compensation insurance coverage, and you give us their information for approval. Let us know what you are looking for, and we are happy to make a few suggestions. Caterer must provide a copy of its certification by the Health Department, set-up and breakdown right before and after the event, and provide a small, refundable clean-up deposit.
SMOKING, FOOD, AND BEVERAGE RESTRICTIONS Designated smoking areas are provided outside of the building and we ask that any of your guests that choose to smoke do so in those areas. To serve alcohol, you’ll need an easy to get ABC license and to follow the rules that come along with it.
DECORATIONS We need to approve all decorations and ensure they meet fire code. We are happy to provide more details.
PRINTED MATERIALS AND PUBLICITY If you plan to promote your event through posters, flyers, signs, or other publicity, let us know in advance so that our marketing team can approve them. For example, we need to make sure the company name and logo fit with our brand.
AUDITORIUM SPECIFICS Technical staff for lighting, sound, and projections should be familiar with our systems and we are happy to show them the ropes. Food and drink is welcome in the Atrium and Rodriguez Pavilion, but not the Auditorium.

Virginia MOCA works with a variety of vendors so you can choose one that suits your taste and budget for catering, lighting, entertainment, etc. Our facility rental staff will work with you and your vendors to create a memorable and enjoyable event!
All vendors must be licensed and insured.
Community Donation Program
We love our community and the other non-profits that make this a great place to live. In that spirit, once a month we donate the use of the space to a non-profit or community organization. HOW LONG CAN YOU "HOLD" MY DATE? We offer the courtesy of holding a date for 14 days.
HOW SOON DO I NEED TO CONTRACT/RESERVE THE SPACE? As soon as you know your date, reach out. Some dates go faster than others. Saturdays during good weather months often get booked 2 years in advance.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? 2200 Parks Avenue, Virginia Beach. We are in the ViBe Creative District and just minutes from the resort district, boardwalk, and ocean.

IS PARKING AVAILABLE/INCLUDED? Two parking areas provide free, on-site parking, accommodating approximately 100 vehicles. All areas are handicap accessible.
WHAT ARE YOUR FEES? For detailed information on pricing, check out the pricing section above.
DO YOU GIVE DISCOUNTS? We do! Renting multiple spaces is one way to get a discount, or you can book the venue on a less popular day of the week for reduced rates. We donate the space once a month to non-profits.
WHAT ARE THE EVENT HOURS? Standard rentals allow for an event up to 5 hours in the space, not including setup and takedown. Contracts are written based on agreeable terms between you and us.
IS A CEREMONY REHEARSAL INCLUDED? Yes, a one-hour ceremony rehearsal is included with wedding rentals.
CAN I BRING MY OWN CATERER? Yes. we do not have an "in-house" catering service. The caterer you select must be an official, licensed business.
DO YOU HAVE A VENDOR CONTACT LIST? Yes. We are happy to provide you with a Preferred Vendor List. Contracts with all vendors will be solely between the user and respective vendors. You are responsible for ensuring that all such vendors review and agree to comply with all Virginia MOCA requirements.
AM I REQUIRED TO HIRE AN EVENT-COORDINATOR? No.
DO YOU HAVE TECHNICAL STAFF AVAILABLE/INCLUDED? No. Technical staff hired by the user must be familiar with Virginia MOCA's lighting and audio system.
DO YOU HAVE AUDIO/VISUAL EQUIPMENT? We do, and are happy to share our inventory with you, or you can rent your own.
DO YOU INCLUDE TABLES? Yes, as available. We stock 6' and 8' rectangle tables, 48" and 60" round tables, and cocktail tables.
DO YOU INCLUDE CHAIRS? Yes, as available. Virginia MOCA provides 200 white resin chairs.
WHAT ARE SET-UP/BREAK-DOWN POLICIES? The caterer is responsible for set-up and breakdown; we need to approve any other arrangements.
CAN I SUPPLY MY OWN DRINKS/ALCOHOL? Yes, with the proper ABC license.
CAN I SERVE RED WINE? Yes.
CAN COCKTAIL HOUR BE HELD OUTDOORS? Yes, when pre-approved.
CAN MY GUESTS TOUR THE GALLERIES? Please do! As long as there is an exhibition on view, your guests can tour the galleries free of charge—just leave your drinks at your table.
WHY DO I NEED SECURITY/STAFF? We are an accredited museum with the American Association of Museums. Their standards and best practices require security to be on site when anyone is in the building.
DO I HAVE TO PROVIDE LIABILITY INSURANCE? Yes, and we are happy to provide more details.
