CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
Calling all artists with a passion for the environment!
Virginia MOCA is now accepting proposals for visual art classes that explore environmental themes.
Every exhibition cycle, we work with teaching artists to develop studio classes inspired by the art on view in our galleries. Our upcoming exhibition, Mark Dion and Alexis Rockman: Journey to Nature's Underworld, is centered around themes related to the natural world, the intermingling of art and science, environmental advocacy, and conservation. Read more about the exhibition here.
Instructor payment begins at $27.50/hour for teaching plus a half-hour of preparation per class per day. For approximately 4 hours of exhibition content training, instructors will be paid $16.00/hour.

Virginia MOCA strives for an inclusive work environment and actively embraces a diversity of people, ideas, talents, and experiences. We highly encourage people of color, individuals with disabilities, and other historically underrepresented groups to apply.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
GALLERY VOLUNTEERS
Our volunteer gallery teachers give their time each week to help students of all ages make meaningful connections to contemporary art. Through our inquiry-based approach to teaching, gallery teachers help foster close observation, critical-thinking, and rich discussion on tours of our current exhibitions. As part of their training, gallery teachers regularly attend guest speaking events, curator-led content overviews of the exhibitions, and workshops dedicated to exploring art education methodology. Gallery teachers are also expected to assist with leading a few school tours each month and make a pledge to at least one year of volunteer service.
