Artists are the heart of Boardwalk Art Show—over 175 of them flock to Virginia Beach each year to showcase their talent along the boardwalk. Spanning 13 mediums and ranging from classic and contemporary to the unconventional and eccentric, it’s no surprise the Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show has been ranked as a Top 15 Fine Art Show of the Decade by Sunshine Artist Magazine.

Applications for the 68th Annual Boardwalk Art Show will open in December.

Boardwalk Art Show is a juried show which means that artists are selected by our jurors from an average application pool of over 700.

The Boardwalk Beach Club is the premier location of the art show, newly relocated to the Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel. Take in sweeping views of the ocean and the art show, enjoy delightful bites and custom cocktails, and participate in a rotating lineup of Beach Club activities.

Bring the entire family to 24th Street Park for free interactive art experiences including pumpkin decorating and activities provided by local non-profit organizations, as well as rotating performances from local performance groups. For the first time, Virginia MOCA’s ARTlab LIVE will offer hands-on artmaking opportunities for the whole family.

Weaving together elements that evoke Virginia’s natural beauty, Eidolon’s surrealistic creation paints a picture of the artistic excellence that blossoms along the Virginia Beach oceanfront each year at the Boardwalk Art Show.

Congratulations to Virginia Beach artist Corinna Sayward, winner of the 2023 Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show T-shirt design contest!

Sayward's bold design Virginia is for Artists incorporates the iconic VA hand gesture, a perfect representation of the pride we have for Virginia's creative community and the Boardwalk Art Show that welcomes nearly 200 exhibiting artists to the Virginia Beach boardwalk each year.

This limited-edition commemorative T-shirt will be available for purchase at the merchandise tents along the boardwalk in October.

From October 20–22, over 175 artists will come from all over the country to showcase the highest caliber of fine art and contemporary craft along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. During the show, following a rigorous judging process, the top standouts are recognized for their outstanding artistic talent with prize money totaling over $20,000.

The Artist Prize Fund is a true representation of how our community embraces the arts, and it’s one of the many reasons artists from around the country apply to the Boardwalk Art Show. Your donation directly supports emerging and experienced artists and helps make the Boardwalk Art Show a premier destination in the art festival scene.
