Virginia Beach, VA – May 23, 2018 – The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) announces the 63rd Annual Boardwalk Art Show presented by PNC Bank. The show runs June 14-17, 2018 from 18th Street to 35th Street on Virginia Beach’s Boardwalk.

Three hundred artists from all over the United States will display and sell their artwork to visitors to the show. Art mediums on sale include painting, photography, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, digital media, mixed media, fiber, wood, and more. With prices as low as $25, there is something for everyone at the show.

MOCA is proud to work with local artist, David Gwaltney, who will be the featured artist at this year’s show. His work A Spot in the Universe was selected as the image to go on event merchandise including posters and t-shirts. Signed and unsigned posters, t-shirts, and other merchandise will be available throughout the show for purchase. Richard Pulley, Assistant Director of Development and Art Show Director at MOCA says, “I am excited to work with David. I think that the artwork chosen for the poster and t-shirts will appeal to everyone who visits the show. It is also exciting that we have a local artist as our featured artist since Boardwalk began as a project by local artists 63 years ago.”

New this year is the 24th Street Park event space. During the day, Sinclair Communications (BOB FM, 96X, etc.) will have games, contests, and a party atmosphere that the entire family can enjoy. In the evenings, 24th Street Park transforms into a concert venue with Smartmouth beer available to purchase. MOCA is proud to partner with The Noblemen, a local charity, who will be running our beer garden.

MOCA will also be hosting the Boardwalk Beach Club. For a fee of $65, enjoy lunch by Steinhilber’s and custom cocktails by Tito’s Handmade Vodka. For every ticket purchased, Tito’s will make a matching donation to MOCA up to $2500. “We are excited to partner with Tito’s to offer our visitors an exclusive experience on the beach in a beautiful setting with an amazing meal and drinks. To top it off, Tito’s is supporting our education programs which are vital to Hampton Roads students who may not be able to experience the art at MOCA without supporters such as Tito’s,” says Pulley.

MOCA’s Boardwalk Art Show presented by PNC Bank kicks off at noon on Thursday, June 14. For more information and to purchase tickets to the Beach Club, visit
