A FULL MOON MENAGERIE: OPENING NIGHT CELEBRATION

MAY 21, 2016  | 5:30PM-11PM

ONE-OF-A-KIND MEETS ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME

THIS EVENT IS SOLD-OUT!

Dear ticketholders - We are excited that you will be joining us for the opening of Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose Saturday, May 21st. The exhibition has already received overwhelming media response, which has created some interesting but controversial dialogue. For that reason MOCA will be enhancing security measures. Bags and metal objects will not be allowed in the galleries. All guests will be subject to physical and visual inspections, bag checks and/or wanding at the entrances of MOCA. To expedite this process we recommend you leave such items at home. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in the matter and look forward to a great event. Thank you for your support of MOCA and the arts!

The Premiere Extravaganza

Turn the Page: The First Ten Years of Hi-Fructose will be inaugurated with a premiere extravaganza shrouded in mystery and inspiring wonder. Cocktails, dinner, and entertainment begin the evening in an edgy, but sophisticated surreal forest. Emerging from the surreal forest, guests will enjoy the first private curatorial tours of the awaited exhibition: Turn the Page, featuring 51 of the foremost artists of our time from the ten year history of Hi-Fructose Magazine. Music by 504 Supreme and live acts and oddities from the talented RVA troop Boom Boom Basics add to the splendor of the VIP extravaganza.

Joined by Turn the Page exhibiting artists, the inaugural crowd will have the first opportunity to add their own color to a mural that will eventually be mounted in the VIBE Creative District - setting the stage for those that follow. As the sun goes down, the spectacular transforms into a moonlit wonder as the page is turned for the general admission event.

A Surreal Celebration

Through tunnels and passages built within the museum walls and extending beyond, guests will traverse a whimsical setting. Roaming and fixed vignettes, interactive art, dancing, live entertainers, and the unexpected, unusual and questionable set a fantastic atmosphere for the serendipitous evening. Musical performances by Gull (RVA) - a three piece, one man band - and the electropop band DJP and MrT celebrate the trend setting work shaping the art world. It is an evening sure to amaze.
