Position: Part-time Maintenance Technician

Summary
The part-time Maintenance Technician upholds Museum standards to effectively promote cleanliness and care of the museum, its staff and visitors and the art in and around the museum.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Report directly to the full-time Maintenance Technician and Director of Operations.
- Work closely with staff to meet Museum’s objectives, ensuring a positive first impression by visitors.
- Proactively clean and maintain building and equipment.
- Maintain stock of all public and staff restrooms.
- Patrol facility daily (inside and out) to identify building maintenance needs.
- Communicate with the full-time Maintenance Technician and Director of Operations regarding support by City ofVirginia Beach Building Maintenanceand Landscape Services.
- Appear to be clean, alert and responsive to all visitors.
- Detect suspicious activities and watch for criminal acts such as damage or theft.
- Communicate with staff, supervisors, or others by telephone, in written form, email, or in person. Maintain polite and courteous manner.
- Work withStudioSchoolinstructors, Manager of Facility Marketing and staff to ensure timely set up and tear down of equipment as needed.
- Report all incidents, accidents or medical emergencies to supervisor and security.
- Provide excellent customer service to visitors, staff and City representatives.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older; High School Diploma or GED; At least one verifiable employer. Demonstrated janitorial experience and building maintenance success. Experience with customer service and working with public desired. Must be able to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time. Must pass a criminal background check.
Required Availability: Work schedule will include one day a week and weekends. Saturdays 9:30am-4pm; Sundays 11:30am-4pm.
Pay Rate: $7.75/hr
